adeodatus: the original problem as given in the 1971 edition ( vol.1 of 2 ) p.156 of the segoe/seigen tesuji jiten gives w e15/ b f15, w d17 b d18/ w d16 b c18 / w c17, b f18 / w b18 among two other variations.... all of which are marked wrong here... !?
posetcay: I think E5 is the correct move here and D3 as first move is wrong. Added variations to show why D3 is suboptimal and changed the correct solution to E5. There is also the option of starting D4 but it is complicated and requires extensive reading, maybe someone else can add that variation.
