Tsumego Hero
  • Igo Hatsuyoron

Igo Hatsuyoron (literally: Production of Yang in the Game of Go) is a collection of 183 go problems mostly life and death problems, compiled in 1713 by the Japanese go master Inoue Dosetsu Inseki.

Until the late nineteenth century, the Hatsuyoron remained a closely guarded secret of the Inoue house, where it was used to train the best disciples in tactics. It became public after the collapse of the house system; several incorrect editions were published, before the discovery in 1982 of a copy believed to be close to the now lost original.

Igo Hatsuyoron is considered the most difficult of such collections, and as such is still used for training professional players. It contains many problems so complex that false or incomplete solutions were given in early editions, and in particular a problem exceptional for its theme and depth, rediscovered in 1982, and which will probably not have been completely solved until 2022, thanks to advances in artificial intelligence.
